Amritsar doctor shot inside hospital by two assailants

Amritsar: In a shocking incident, a doctor running a private hospital in Sudhar village sustained serious injuries after being shot by two unidentified assailants inside the hospital.
According to police, the attackers entered the hospital pretending to take medicines and then opened fire, hitting Dr Kulwinder Singh in the arm and stomach. He was immediately rushed to another hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.
Investigations have revealed that the doctor had been receiving extortion calls from foreign-based gangster Jeevan Fauji prior to the attack.

According to The Tribune media report, on July 11, unidentified bike-borne assailants had earlier opened fire at his hospital on the gangster’s instructions, after Fauji allegedly threatened the doctor with dire consequences if he failed to pay the demanded extortion money.
Ramdass Police Station SHO Agyapal Singh said that police teams are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the shooters. He added that four of Fauji’s associates had already been arrested in connection with the July firing incident and are currently lodged in jail.
After the doctor was recently injured, the police rushed to the spot and began a detailed investigation. They took the CCTV footage of the incident, and efforts are on to identify the suspects.
Although the exact reason behind the attack is unknown, the police suspect it may be linked to the foreign-based gangster Jeevan Fauji.
