Attempted attack on doctor at Udaipur Hospital after patient declared dead

Security Boost for Healthcare Workers as Odisha Plans Police Deployment
Udaipur: In a shocking incident of alleged violence against medical professionals, an on-duty doctor at Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital (MB Hospital), Udaipur, was allegedly targeted in an attempted attack with an iron rod by a patient’s attendant after the patient was declared dead.
The patient, identified as a 20-year-old woman from Ajmer, was suffering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome and had been on ventilator support since April 8. Her condition reportedly deteriorated on Monday evening.
Doctors had earlier revived her through CPR. However, despite continuous efforts, her condition worsened after midnight, and she was declared dead at around 12:30 AM.

Soon after the news of her death, her husband allegedly lost control, reportedly picked up an iron rod and tried to attack the on-duty doctor, creating panic within the hospital premises.
After receiving information about the incident, Rabindranath Tagore Medical College (RNT Medical College) Principal Dr Rahul Jain reportedly reached the hospital during the night.
A CCTV footage of the incident was shared by Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, Vice President of All India Medical Students’ Association, on his official Instagram handle. The video shows the attendant picking up an iron rod from the floor and chasing the doctor towards the end of the corridor.
Dr Momin has strongly condemned the attack and demanded urgent legal action. Speaking to Medical Dialogus, he said that violence against doctors and healthcare workers cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
