Varanasi: In an unfortunate incident, a Medical Officer in-charge at the Bansdih Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ballia district, died of a suspected heart attack while in judicial custody in Varanasi, just five days after being arrested on bribery charges.
The doctor, identified as Venkatesh Maurya, was in jail when he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to a hospital in Varanasi after his health worsened, but he could not be saved.
According to local media reports, the doctor was arrested by a Vigilance team on bribery charges after he was allegedly caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000.
