Vadodara Ayurveda Doctor Arrested for Practicing Allopathy Without License
Vadodara: Following a raid on illegal medical practices, an Ayurvedic doctor was arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Vadodara for practising allopathy. The arrest followed a tip-off to the police, which led to a raid on the clinic.
The Ayurvedic doctor had reportedly been running a clinic in Nandesari for the past few years without proper authorization. Operating without the necessary credentials, his practice was deemed illegal. As a result, the Special Operations Group (SOG) took action and arrested him.
As per the recent media report by TOI, the police said he had a bachelor's degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from West Bengal, but he was practising allopathy and had allopathic medicines in his clinic.
Authorities confirmed that Biswas did not have the required registration with the Gujarat Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine, which is essential for practising Ayurveda in the state.
During the raid, the police seized all the medicines and injections from his clinic, which will likely be used as evidence in the ongoing investigation. The case highlights concerns regarding unregistered and unauthorized medical practices in the state.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a major breakthrough, Kolhapur police arrested four individuals, including an ayurvedic doctor, who was allegedly involved in more than 50 crimes, primarily related to house burglaries and the supply of marijuana. The arrests were made following an investigation into a recent burglary in Ispurli village, where thieves stole gold jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh.
Following the investigation, the police learned that this notorious gang was led by a 46-year-old resident of the Jawahar Nagar area in Kolhapur city.
