Bengaluru doctor to attend King Charles III, Queen Camilla's coronation
Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-based doctor has become one of the few people to receive an invitation for attending the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla on 6th May 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London.
The doctor, Issac Mathai is the chairman of SOUKYA, International Holistic Centre, which provides health treatment in the form of Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga and Naturopathy.

Confirming his presence, the doctor, who is currently in London, stated that he would attend the pre-coronation party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
Speaking about the royal family's association with SOUKYA for many years, Mathai informed the Hindu, "For 18 years, both the King and Queen Consort have been consulting me as a holistic consultant. The Queen Consort has visited SOUKYA eight times, and the King came once. They really enjoyed being in India at our centre for treatment."
He added, "Being a part of the coronation is the proudest moment of my life. I regularly meet the King and the Queen Consort in London. Other than medical consultation, the King has some interest in holistic medicine. The King and I also have a common interest in organic farming and climate change."
Speaking to the Deccan Herald, the doctor said, "Prince Charles and Camilla have taken to holistic medicine in a big way and their interest and inclination towards it began after they first visited Soukya. What has kept the friendship strong is trust. I have been their personal doctor for a while now. I admire Charles' deep interest in ayurveda - a topic that he can converse with for hours."
The doctor would reportedly be hosting a dinner at an Indian restaurant for important people from Buckingham Palace on May 4. "It will be at Chutney Mary and a special coronation menu has been conceptualized."
Expressing his happiness, the doctor said, "It's an opportunity of a lifetime for me and I'm happy and thrilled that I will be part of this magical global event." He added, "Seriously, I was not. Usually, heads of state are the ones invited to such events. So now that I've got one, I feel elated."
Nearly 2000 people have received an invitation for attending this event. He informed TOI, "I'm not sure about the guest list from India, I don't know who else has been invited."
