BHMS doctor sentenced to life in jail for killing wife in 2021

Meerut: A court in Bulandshahr has sentenced a 40-year-old homoeopathy doctor from Meerut to life imprisonment for murdering his wife and dumping her body in the Ganga in 2021. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 on him.
According to the prosecution, the accused used to harass his wife because they had no children and that she was not conceiving. She had even filed a complaint against him, but the matter was resolved after their families' intervention. The couple then started living in Narora.
However, the accused later began an affair with a woman sub-inspector, and shortly after, his wife went missing. Following his arrest, the accused confessed to murdering his wife.

The accused doctor was posted at Dibai Community Health Centre in Bulandshahr. He was married to Shashi Prabha, a government teacher at Govt Inter-College in Narora.
Additional district govt counsel (ADGC) Nitin Tyagi said as reported by TOI, "Gautam used to torment his wife for not conceiving. When the harassment went on for some time, Prabha lodged a complaint at Mainpuri police station. There was a reconciliation between the husband and wife after the intervention of their families and the police. The couple started living in a colony in Narora. Later, Gautam developed a ‘relationship' with a woman sub-inspector."
"In June 2021, Prabha went missing, following which her father lodged a police complaint after suspecting something was amiss. During interrogation, he confessed before police that he strangled his wife and dumped the body in the Ganga in Bulandshahr. The body was recovered on June 27, 2021, following which an FIR was registered against Gautam, his ‘lover' and his cousin sister. During the investigation, the other two accused were let off due to lack of evidence," added the ADGC.
Subsequently, the court found the doctor guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
