Lucknow doctor booked for allegedly sedating, murdering wife during Thailand trip
Lucknow: In a shocking incident, a 38-year-old doctor from Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow district is facing serious allegations of murder after his wife was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the bathroom during their vacation at a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand. The doctor has been booked following an FIR filed by the deceased's family, alleging foul play.
The family members of the deceased woman have alleged that the doctor had killed their daughter and attempted to portray the situation as an accident. Therefore, they accused him of murdering her during a trip to Thailand, where the doctor had taken her and their grandson. It was revealed that the trip was arranged by the doctor to light up the mood of his wife who was depressed after her mother's passing.

Her father claimed that his son-in-law sedated her and caused her to drown in a bathtub at their hotel. According to him, the couple's marriage had been troubled and worsened significantly after his daughter gave birth to a baby boy. He also alleged that the doctor’s extramarital affair and the birth of their grandson may have been the reason for the alleged murder.
The incident took place after the doctor arranged a family trip to Thailand with his wife and son. Therefore, they left for the country on January 4. The day when the woman was found dead which was January 8, the doctor informed her family that she died due to drowning.
However, the woman's parents did not believe the doctor's statements and filed a complaint at the police station implying foul play. Later, the police registered an FIR against the doctor late Monday night, charging him with murder. An investigation is under process.
Explaining the matter in detail, the deceased father claimed that his son-in-law, a doctor at Orai Medical College in Uttar Pradesh physically and mentally harassed his daughter after she became aware of his extramarital affair.
The doctor who also runs a clinic in Ashiana Indira Nagar in Lucknow had a love marriage with the deceased woman in 2017. However, they reportedly experienced marital discord in recent years.
Speaking to TOI, the deceased father said, "The dispute continued because my daughter came to know that he(the doctor) had an illicit relationship with another woman, and she protested against this. He used to harass her mentally and physically. My daughter gave an application to the police against him earlier, and a report was registered. Thereafter on mine and his (doctor) father's intervention, my daughter was assured that she would not be harassed again and I sent my daughter with him."
"On Jan 8, around 3 am, a call came that my daughter died by drowning in the bathtub. He is a doctor by profession, and taking advantage of his profession, he fed some medicine to my daughter and conspired to drown her in the bathtub, as he told us that she died by drowning in the bathtub. I am convinced that he murdered my daughter. He can also commit some crime against me and my family. The two had a love marriage in 2017, and until 2021 their relationship was fine. But in 2021, after my daughter gave birth to a baby boy, things worsened between them."
"The couple were to return on Jan 14. However, she died on Jan 8 and Ashish and his family returned on Jan 10, leaving Priyanka's body," said another family member.
Calling for a detailed investigation and strict action, the family of the deceased wrote a letter to Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya on Jan 12 mentioning the details of the incident and blaming the doctor for their daughter's death.
