Bhopal: In a shocking incident, a director of a private multispecialty hospital in Vineet Kunj on Kolar Road was allegedly duped of Rs 1.5 crore by an employee at his hospital.
According to the police, the accused, a 70-year-old manager at the hospital allegedly manipulated the hospital's billing register, embezzled the salaries of the employees working in the hospital and the expenses incurred in the maintenance of the hospital.
The victim in this case has been identified as Dr Ranjit Chaudhary, the director of Arihant Kidney and Multispecialty Hospital in Vineet Kunj on Kolar Road.

As per police reports, Dr Ranjit, the complainant in the case, had initiated the construction of a kidney hospital in the Kolar area in 2018. During this period, the doctor required a trustworthy individual to monitor the ongoing construction work.
Following this, a medical representative known to the doctor suggested his father’s name for the supervision as he had experience in the field. The doctor then hired his father on 2 January 2021.
The accused employee, entrusted with the responsibility of supervising the construction and later maintenance of the hospital, is now alleged to have committed forgery amounting to Rs 1.5 crore. The exact amount came to light when the hospital's audit report revealed that the accused had embezzled approximately Rs 1.5 crore between 2021 and 2023. However, the exact nature and details of the forgery are still under investigation as the police delve deeper into the case.
As per a TOI news report, the police said, "When the accused stopped coming to work, the doctor had a doubt and when he inquired from his other staff it came to light that the elderly man was involved in irregularities. When the hospital’s accounts and financial transactions were checked, it came to light that the accused swindled around Rs 1.5 crore."
The accused fled from the hospital without telling anything on June 7, 2023, When the doctor asked for his money back, the accused refused to return it, The Pioneer reported.
Police told TOI, "The complainant doctor gave a complaint application in July last year and after investigation; a case of forgery was registered on Saturday."
