The Times Now reports that the patient's relatives attacked the doctor after the latter had promised to provide an admission report to the kin. The doctor said that the report would be delivered after the discharge of the patient.
Following this, the patients reportedly became angry and attacked the doctor brutally. It was alleged that the patient's relatives destroyed the properties kept within the hospital premises. However, several staff members and other people could be seen attempting to intervene in the issue and prevent the assault.
The police began their investigation after the CCTV footage went viral.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about a similar incident where a resident doctor at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Aurangabad had been assaulted by the relatives of a patient, following which 350 resident doctors cut off work as a mark of protest. Based on the complaint filed by the doctor, a case of obstructing government work was registered with the Begumpura police station.
The incident occurred when a person who got into an accident was admitted to GMCH. However, the patient's relatives assaulted the doctor, identified as Dr. Uday Chundurji, accusing him of negligence in treatment.
