Chaos at Shivpuri Hospital: Medical officer threatened at gunpoint

Shivpuri: In a shocking incident that created panic at a government hospital in Kolaras tehsil of Shivpuri district, a hospital employee allegedly pointed a gun at a Block Medical Officer (BMO) during a dispute over unpaid salary.

According to news reports, allegedly angry over the pending salary of 12 months, the employee reportedly took a pistol out of his pocket and aimed it at the Block Medical Officer. A man who had been speaking with the doctor quickly walked away in fear. The incident was captured on the hospital's CCTV camera, which has since gone viral on social media.

As per NDTV news report, the employee works as a dresser at the Kolaras tehsil hospital, who dresses wounds, cleans sores and prepares patients for surgery. In the viral clip, he can be seen angrily confronting the Block Medical Officer (BMO) before suddenly pulling out a gun and pointing it at him.

Two hospital staff members present at the scene were visibly shocked. One moved away immediately, while the other stayed near the doctor. The doctor can be seen trying to calm the employee as he again attempted to pull out his gun. Patients and attendants passing by were stunned to see the incident unfold.

It has been reported that the employee acted impulsively because he was angry at not being paid his salary for the past 12 months and blamed the BMO for the delay.

Following the incident, the hospital employee has been suspended, and police have initiated legal proceedings against him.

District Chief Health Officer Sanjay Risheshwar dismissed the allegation of unpaid salary and claimed that his salary had been paid till September 2025. He said, "The accusations are baseless. His act was dangerous and unacceptable. He has been suspended, and legal action has been initiated."

NDTV sources said this is not the first time Najgarh has made headlines. He has previously gone viral for his erratic behaviour, including instances of drinking alcohol while on duty.

An official from the district health office said, "The act of pointing a weapon at a senior officer is completely unacceptable and dangerous. The hospital employee has been suspended, and strict disciplinary and criminal action will follow."
