Chhattisgarh doctors back employees federation's 3-day protest

Raipur: Doctors across Chhattisgarh have extended full support to the three-day collective leave and protest called by the Chhattisgarh Employees and Officers Federation from December 29 to 31, 2025. The support has been announced by the Chhattisgarh Doctors’ Association (CIDA), which represents in-service doctors across the state.

In a statement, CIDA said it stands firmly with the Federation’s proposed agitation, which involves 118 organisations of government employees across the state. The association clarified that the demands raised by the Federation are not limited to any single category, but are in the interest of regular, ad-hoc, contractual and bonded doctors of all categories.

Appealing to doctors across the state, CIDA urged all medical professionals to observe a three-day collective leave on December 29, 30 and 31 and actively participate in the movement in a united manner.

"It is also important to understand that all demands are not fulfilled immediately through any movement or protest. The core purpose of a protest is to demonstrate how organised, united and strong an organisation, cadre or fraternity is, " said the association.

According to the association, a protest is a show of organisational strength. The broader and more effective the display of cadre strength, the more seriously ministers, bureaucrats, senior officials, the media, public representatives and the general public—at the state, district and local levels—will listen to and understand doctors’ state-level and local demands.

"At the state, district and local levels, a protest is the best way to assess the strength and active participation of an organisation or cadre. If you want to demonstrate your strength to local, district and state leadership and senior officials for any of your demands—or wish to evaluate your collective strength—this protest is an excellent opportunity," the statement reads.

"Put down the pen, raise your voice – implement Modi’s Guarantee," the association said further, urging doctors to come together on one platform with one voice and one objective.

"Modi’s Guarantee" refers to the assurance made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP during elections, particularly ahead of the 2023 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, to regularise contractual and temporary employees and improve service conditions of government staff, including healthcare workers.

Doctors and employee unions are invoking Modi’s Guarantee to remind the state government of the election assurance and are demanding that the promise be implemented in practice, not just stated during campaigns.
