Dausa District Hospital Psychiatrist dies of suspected heart attack at 40

Dr. Himanshu Sharma
Jaipur: In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old doctor posted at Dausa District Hospital died of a suspected heart attack in Jaipur on Friday after his health suddenly deteriorated while undergoing medical evaluation for chest pain.
The deceased has been identified as Dr. Himanshu Sharma, a psychiatrist, who was reportedly at his residence in Jaipur when he experienced chest pain. He was taken to a private hospital in Malviya Nagar by his wife for examination around 10 a.m., but his condition worsened during medical evaluation, and he passed away shortly thereafter. Initial reports suggest the cause of death was a heart attack.

According to the news reports, the deceased had also complained of chest pain two days earlier. At that time, he reportedly considered the symptoms minor and took medication. As a precaution, he had taken leave from duty and was staying in Jaipur.
Dr. Sharma had been posted at the Dausa District Hospital since 2023. His wife is also a medical professional and is posted at Jaipuria Government Hospital in Jaipur. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Reacting to the incident, Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, said in a recent post on 'X' that the tragedy serves as a stark reminder that chest pain should never be dismissed as acidity, gas, or stress without proper medical evaluation. He noted that heart attacks are often preceded by warning symptoms, offering a crucial window for diagnosis and treatment. He also emphasized avoiding self-medication, recognizing cardiovascular risk factors, maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle, and seeking immediate medical attention for suspected cardiac symptoms.
Several members of the medical fraternity also expressed their condolences on social media. One doctor wrote, "Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of young Dr. Himanshu Sharma, Psychiatrist at Dausa District Hospital. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and patients."
Speaking to Bhaskar English, PMO Dr. R.K. Meena said, “The news of Dr. Himanshu Sharma's untimely demise was received around 11 am. Dr. Himanshu Sharma was posted in Dausa District Hospital since 2023. He was of a cheerful disposition. Due to Himanshu Sharma's friendly nature, he had close relations with patients and hospital staff. Initially, death is suspected due to a heart attack. However, the exact causes of death will be known after the final report comes.”
