Delhi Court grants bail to influencer The Skin Doctor in alleged defamation case

New Delhi: In a late-night hearing on Wednesday, a Delhi court granted bail to a social media influencer and dermatologist popularly known as “The Skin Doctor,” in a case registered by the police over an allegedly defamatory post involving the family of a late industrialist.
According to the news reports, the order was passed by Judicial Magistrate Snehil Sharma at the Patiala House Court after the accused was produced before the court at around 9:40 pm. The decision was pronounced within an hour of arguments from both the prosecution and the defence.
The Delhi Police had sought custody of the doctor for two days, but the court observed that no further custodial interrogation was required at this stage. It ruled that keeping the accused in custody would not serve any purpose and accordingly granted bail.
During the hearing, the doctor reportedly assured the court of his full cooperation with the investigation and agreed that he would hand over his mobile phone to the police within a week after securing his personal data.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Priya Kapur at the Vasant Kunj Police Station in Delhi, alleging that the doctor’s social media post contained false and defamatory content. The post is said to have questioned the circumstances surrounding Sunjay Kapur’s death and raised issues related to his estate and inheritance disputes. Priya Kapur has maintained that the allegations were “false and fabricated.”
The doctor, who has a substantial following on X, Instagram, and YouTube under the handle “The Skin Doctor,” was arrested earlier in connection with the complaint.
Sunjay Kapur, chairman of auto components firm Sona Comstar and former husband of actor Karisma Kapoor, died in London in June 2025 while playing polo. His death has since become part of a prolonged legal battle over his estate involving Karisma Kapoor, Priya Kapur, and his mother Rani Kapur, with related proceedings pending before the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court of India is decoding a ₹30,000-crore Kapur family estate battle after the death of the businessman. In its latest hearing, the top court likened the estate battle to the Mahabharat, with Justice J B Pardiwala remarking that the epic war would “look very small” compared to the feud unfolding before the court. “We have entered into an arena. The Mahabharat will look very small. We will look into it,” Justice Pardiwala remarked during the hearing, as lawyers outlined new allegations linked to the functioning of the family trust and a proposed company board meeting. The court will hear the matter on May 14, reports Hindustan Times.
As per Bar and Bench, Advocates Siddharth Handa and Ravi Sharma appeared for the doctor yesterday before the magistrate.
