Delhi Dermatologist sent to 14-day judicial custody in domestic help murder case

14-Day Judicial Custody for Delhi Dermatologist Accused of Murdering House Help
New Delhi: In a significant development in the murder case of a domestic help in Delhi's East of Kailash, a city court on Sunday remanded the dermatologist to 14 days of judicial custody.
The development came after the completion of a two-day police remand granted to the Delhi Police for further investigation. Police had sought custody of the dermatologist to recover the clothes he allegedly wore during the offence and to collect additional evidence related to the case.

Earlier, while allowing the police remand, the court had directed investigators to conduct the accused’s medical examination and produce him before the Duty Magistrate upon completion of the custody period. Following the completion of police custody, the dermatologist was presented before the court and subsequently sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
The case came to light on June 18 when police were alerted by a neighbour who noticed a woman lying in a pool of blood inside the dermatologist’s residence. Responding officers found the body of a domestic worker who had been employed by the dermatologist’s family.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a domestic dispute, reportedly linked to the possible removal of a long-time househelp, may have played a key role in a shocking murder case in South Delhi, where a dermatologist has been arrested for allegedly killing a 45-year-old woman employed at his residence. Investigators believe the incident may have been preceded by a dispute over the victim’s continued employment in the household.
According to police officials, the dermatologist allegedly admitted to the killing during the initial stages of the investigation.
Speaking to The Hindu, police said a bat allegedly used to bludgeon the house help, and a knife suspected to have been used to slit her throat, were recovered from the house. The domestic worker, a native of Kolkata, had worked for the family for 16 years.
Police are continuing their investigation to gather further evidence and determine the circumstances leading to the crime.
