Delhi Govt grants Rs 1 crore each to families of two doctors who died of COVID
Insurance company slapped compensation for deficiency in Service
New Delhi: As a way of showing gratitude to the front liners who have lost their lives while serving COVID-19 patients, the Aam Aadmi Party government has given financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the families of two doctors who died of COVID in the capital Delhi.
Honouring the sacrifices made by the two doctors, the AAP informed that the families of Dr Ramesh Kumar and Dr Sanjay Kumar were handed over the cheques of Rs one crore.
Delhi Government Minister Raj Kumar Anand met the families of both the doctors and handed over the cheques under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's scheme of honouring the sacrifice of Covid warriors.

"The family of Dr Sanjay Kumar Gupta, a COVID warrior and medical superintendent who lost his life while treating people during the coronavirus pandemic, was honoured with a tribute of Rs 1 crore by the government of Arvind Kejriwal," tweeted Anand.
AAP said that the Kejriwal government was committed to taking care of the families of its COVID warriors.
"Dr Ramesh Kumar also laid down his life while serving on the frontline during Covid 19. We are committed to taking care of their families. Delhi Cabinet Minister Raj Kumar Anand met the family of Dr Ramesh Kumar and gave them a cheque of Rs one crore," the AAP tweeted.
The Delhi government gives ₹1 crore ex-gratia to the next of kin of “Covid warriors” who died after getting infected in the line of duty. Till now, the government has assisted Rs 1 crore each to the families of around 33 Covid warriors who lost their lives while serving the people during the pandemic.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had issued guidelines for applying for COVID-19 death compensation.
Issuing a public notice, it said that the outer time limit of 60 days to file the claims for compensation in case the death occurred due to COVID-19 before March 20, 2022, is effective from March 24, 2022.
For future deaths, 90 days shall be provided from the date of death due to COVID-19 to file the compensation claim, it said.
The guidelines were issued after the decision of the Supreme Court on March 24, 2022.
