Delhi govt hands interim Director Health Services charge to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital Medical Superintendent

New Delhi: Through a recent order, the Delhi government has transferred Dr Vatsala Aggarwal, Director of Health Services (DHS), with immediate effect, around nine months after appointing her to the post.
An office order issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare on May 21, 2026, Dr Aggarwal, who was serving as Director, Health Services, has been placed under "awaiting posting" status until further orders.
In the interim, the Medical Superintendent of Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital (JPCH) will look after the charge of the Director, Health Services, as per the existing link arrangements, the order stated.
The government has also directed Dr Aggarwal to hand over the charge immediately to the concerned officer and submit a report accordingly.
"Medical Superintendent, Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital (JPCH) will look after the charge of Director, DHS, as per the existing link arrangements, till further orders. Dr Vatsala Aggarwal is directed to hand over the charge immediately to the officer concerned and report accordingly," the order mentioned.
The office order was issued by Sharat Kumar, Deputy Secretary (HR-Medical), Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi, issued with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
Medical Dialogues in August 2025 reported about the Department of Health and Family Welfare appointing Dr Vatsala Aggarwal as the new Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Delhi. Before the appointment, Dr Aggarwal served as the Chief Medical Officer (SAG) at Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital.
A senior bureaucrat in Delhi’s health administration, she had earlier worked as director and medical superintendent in government hospitals. She has served as Director of Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital and was additionally given charge as Director of the Delhi State Cancer Institute. She has more than 31 years of experience in health care administration and clinical practice.
