DMA submits memorandum to Delhi Police, calls for mandatory lodging of Institutional FIR in cases of violence
New Delhi: Raising the issue of growing violence against doctors in the capital, a delegation from the Delhi Medical Association (DMA) met Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Delhi Police recentrly
DMA representatives submit a memorandum addressing the rising incidents of violence against the medical professionals, that called for the mandatory lodging of Institutional FIR in cases of violence
The other points discussed include, "Raising awareness among police personnel regarding the Prevention of Violence Against Medical Professionals Act, 2008.,", Establishment of dedicated distress numbers in each district to address violence against healthcare professionals as well as "Conducting regular sensitization meetings with police leadership to foster collaboration and protection," DMA stated as per the release.

The delegation of doctors included Alok Bhandari, Prakash Lalchandani, VK Monga, Sunil Singhal and Satish Lamba from the Delhi Medical Association.
On September 9, a female postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
The incident sparked nationwide protests from doctors and trainees around the country demanding justice for the victim and enhanced security measures for the medical professionals.
Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer at the hospital, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Medical Dialogues team had reported about the growing instance of violence against doctors in the capital itself. Only recently, In a shocking development, a Delhi-based doctor was shot dead by two men inside Nima Hospital in the Jaitpur area. This incident was reported from the Kalindi Kunj Police Station area. The staff at Nima Hospital have informed that these two men had come to the hospital with an injury.
After receiving treatment and dressing from the hospital, they allegedly demanded to meet the doctor. Once they entered the doctor's cabin, they shot him dead, Delhi Police have informed media persons here .
