Manchar: In a shocking incident, a doctor was abducted and held hostage by two notorious criminals in Manchar. After an extensive two-month investigation, the rural police’s crime branch successfully apprehended one of the primary suspects involved in the kidnapping.
During the arrest, authorities seized a pistol and two rounds of ammunition from the suspect.
The victim, a doctor from the area, filed a complaint with the Manchar police station following his harrowing experience. According to his complaint, the doctor was kidnapped on January 4th, 2024, while travelling from Peth to Manchar on his motorcycle. The two assailants trailed the doctor, eventually ramming their vehicle into his bike, causing him to fall. They then abducted him and transported him to Nighotwadi, where they held him hostage.

The doctor was brutally beaten, and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. The criminals even fired a shot from a pistol, threatening the doctor’s life. Ultimately, they extorted Rs 1 lakh from the victim before releasing him near Peth Ghat.
After the incident, the doctor immediately reported the crime, leading to an investigation by the local police. Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh and his team took swift action, instructing the crime branch to apprehend the criminals.
Following the investigation, the police quickly identified the two culprits. The first, a resident of Wald, Tal. Khed, Pune, was arrested. The second accused, a resident of Manchar, Pune district, had been apprehended earlier by the police.
According to the news reports after two months of investigation, the police gathered intelligence indicating that one of the accused would be at the Alephata ST bus stand. Acting on this tip-off, the police set up a trap and successfully apprehended the accused. During the arrest, the police seized a locally made pistol and two rounds of ammunition from him.
