Six Youths, Including Doctor, Nabbed for Circulating Fake Notes

Nashik: In a major crackdown, Satana police have arrested six youths, including a highly educated doctor, for allegedly circulating counterfeit Rs 500 notes in Nashik district.

Acting on confidential information, the police seized fake currency worth Rs 15,000 from a car during a swift operation. The court has remanded all the accused to police custody until December 24.

According to the police, informers tipped them off that counterfeit notes were being brought into the city in a Renault Duster four-wheeler. Police personnel deployed for bandobast at the pilgrimage site immediately swung into action, reports Free Press Journal.

The accused were caught red-handed while refuelling at a petrol pump on the Satana–Taharabad road, attempting to use the counterfeit notes for payment. The incident drew significant attention, as it occurred during the ongoing pilgrimage of Devmamledar Yashwant Maharaj in the city.

As per news reports by Maharashtra Times, Satana police seized four expensive mobile phones, a four-wheeler, and valuables worth about Rs 4 lakh 35 thousand from these youths. It is suspected that a big racket is operating behind this case, and Police Inspector Yogesh Patil has expressed confidence that the place where fake notes are printed will be found soon. It is believed that the threads of this incident are reaching Sambhajinagar, Nagpur.

This incident comes amid a broader crackdown on fake currency operations in Maharashtra.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a major inter-state Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) racket has been busted in Maharashtra’s Malegaon, leading to the arrest of two men and recovery of fake Rs 500 notes worth Rs 30 lakh. The police discovered that a suspended government doctor is the alleged mastermind behind the operation. The arrested individuals reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation that they had been receiving fake Indian currency notes (FICN) from Prateek Navlakhe, the suspended doctor from Burhanpur district.
