Doctor killed after two-wheeler hits truck

Doctor Dies in Fatal Road Accident in Balughat
Guwahati: A tragic incident claimed the life of a doctor and left an advocate critically injured on Saturday evening in Guwahati. The accident occurred in the Balughat locality, located along the National Highway, and has sparked concerns over road safety in the area.
The victims, a doctor and an advocate, were traveling on a scooter (registration number AS 01EB 6441) from Jalukbari towards Khanapara when the unfortunate incident took place. Reports suggest that as the two men attempted to overtake a truck (registration number BR 24GD 9491), the scooter lost control. In a split second, the two-wheeler slipped and collided with the wheels of the speeding truck, resulting in a devastating impact.
The doctor, identified as Dr. Hazarika, tragically succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while the advocate, whose identity remains undisclosed, was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

According to the news reports, both individuals were on their way to enjoy a meal of 'biryani' when the unfortunate incident occurred. The deceased doctor’s body has been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.
As per the recent media reports by Pratidin Time, local residents expressed strong resentment over the delayed arrival of police at the accident site. The road stretch, currently functioning as a one-way due to ongoing construction work, has turned into an accident hotspot. Locals alleged that a lack of proper traffic management and unchecked speeding by vehicles has made the area increasingly dangerous.
An official statement from the Guwahati city police is expected to clarify the details of the incident and provide further updates on the investigation.
