Doctor Operates on Wrong Eye of 7-Year-Old, License Cancellation sought
Greater Noida: Despite having a problem in the left eye, a seven-year-old boy recently had his right eye operated on! The incident took place at a Greater Noida-based hospital, where the minor patient was admitted for surgery on his left eye.
The patient's family has filed a complaint in this regard before the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gautam Buddha Nagar. In his complaint before the CMO, the boy's father demanded the cancellation of the doctor's license and also urged the authorities to seal the hospital.
The father of the minor child, Bhati took him to Anand Spectrum Hospital in Sector Gamma 1 on November 12 as the child's left eye was watering often. After examining the patient, the treating doctor informed the family that there was a plastic-like object in the patient's eye. The doctor further assured that the problem could be cured by operation.
Consequently, the doctor conducted the operation on the minor patient on Tuesday and the surgery cost Rs 45,000, informed the officials.

As per the latest media report by NDTV, after reaching home, the boy's mother noticed that the operation was done in the wrong eye. After this, the parents of the child confronted the doctor. However, the doctor along with his staff allegedly misbehaved with them, Police informed the Daily.
This led to a ruckus on the part of the family at the hospital. They also filed a complaint with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gautam Buddha Nagar and demanded the cancellation of the doctor's license and the sealing of the hospital.
Meanwhile, a police investigation has commenced into the matter. Confirming this, officials informed NDTV that proper action would be taken soon.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that last year, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) had suspended the licenses of two doctors who were found guilty of medical negligence and misconduct and among them, one doctor was punished by the Council for conducting surgery on the wrong leg.
