Doctors among 5 allegedly attacked outside Chanakyapuri Hotel, 1 seriously injured

New Delhi: A group of five young professionals, including women doctors from Nagaland, were allegedly attacked by three unidentified men outside a hotel in Chanakyapuri, Delhi, in the early hours of October 4. One of the male doctors sustained serious injuries in the alleged assault.
The incident reportedly took place around 3:30 am when the group was returning from a washroom to the parking area. According to one of the women, the three men allegedly tried to pull her and another woman into their car before attacking a male doctor who intervened.
“At that very moment, three unknown men tried to grab our hands and pull us inside their car while we were walking towards the parking,” the woman alleged. “When our doctor friend and our other friends stepped in to protect us, they attacked him relentlessly”, Hub News reported.
The woman alleged that the attackers used hockey sticks and a car gear lock during the assault. The injured doctor suffered a serious head injury, a dislocated shoulder and multiple contusions, and allegedly lost consciousness twice. He is undergoing treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, she said.
She further alleged that the vehicle used by the suspects had no number plate, making identification difficult. The men also appeared to be intoxicated and allegedly attempted to drive towards the group even after police reached the spot.
The group subsequently reached Chanakyapuri Police Station around 4 am. However, the woman alleged that police initially did not register their complaint or an FIR and instead seized their vehicle and phones.
“We kept telling them that we were innocent and that those men were the aggressors, but the police didn’t initially register an FIR, note down our complaint, or follow basic protocol,” she alleged, reports Hub News.
An FIR was eventually registered at Chanakyapuri Police Station around 6 pm under Sections 115(2), 126(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The woman, who is from Nagaland and has lived in Delhi for several years, said the incident had left the group shaken.
“We are from Nagaland and have been living in Delhi for years, but after this incident, we feel completely unsafe,” she said, alleging that the incident involved an attempt to abduct the women and seriously harm their friend.
The victims have sought the arrest of the three suspects and a detailed investigation into both the alleged assault and the initial police response. Police are investigating the matter.
