Doctors, Nursing Staff Clash at Saifai Medical University- Case registered Against 3 Junior Doctors
Kanpur: A police case has been registered against three junior doctors at Saifai Medical University in Etawah District after a female staff nurse filed a complaint against them accusing the doctors of behaving inappropriately.
This led to anger among junior doctors at the University amid the ongoing tension between the doctors and nursing staff. For several days at the institute, there has been a dispute between the female nursing staff and junior doctors, TOI has reported.
Both the nursing staff and junior doctors brought allegations against each other. While the nursing staff accused the doctors of misconduct, the doctors accused the nursing staff of being arbitrary.
On Wednesday, both the nursing staff and junior doctors staged a protest and finally, the protest ended after receiving assurances from the medical superintendent.
Amid this situation, the police filed a report against the three junior doctors based on the complaint filed by a staff nurse. As per the latest media report by the Times of India, in her report, the nurse alleged that on Tuesday, a group of junior doctors behaved inappropriately with her during duty in the ortho ward and attempted to secretly take photos and videos.
She also claimed that the doctors had misbehaved with her several times before as well. Previously, she had complained in this regard to the medical superintendent of the University. After that, some of the videos were deleted. However, allegedly, the doctors' behaviour did not change.
Commenting on the matter, the in-charge of the Police Station, where the complaint was lodged, informed TOI that a case was registered against 3 junior doctors based on the female nursing officer's complaint.
Previously, submitting a memorandum to the VC on January 12, the nurses demanded an investigation into the incident and action against the culprits. On the other hand, the junior doctors had alleged that the nursing staff did not work properly, and did not appear during duty on time. They also alleged that there was negligence in important tasks like dressing, medicine distribution, and taking care of patients.
The doctors had called the allegations of misbehaviour with the female employees fake and demanded an investigation and action against them. As a result of the clash between doctors and nurses, the OPD services remained stalled. Not a single prescription was made from 9 am to noon and patients coming from far away places had to return. However, the counter reopened for one hour after one o'clock, in which 804 prescriptions were made, Live Hindustan has reported.
After considering the seriousness of the situation, the administration deployed two platoons of PAC along with CO Pahamp Singh, Tehsildar Javed Ansari, Inspector in-charge Rakesh Sharma. Further, the VC had formed a three-member committee and ordered an investigation. Vice Chancellor Prof. PK Jain, Vice Chancellor Dr. Ramakant Yadav, Dean Medical Dr. Aadesh Kumar, CMS Dr. SP Singh talked to both the parties and assured a fair investigation.
