Dr BL Sherwal appointed as Safdarjung Medical Superintendent, Dr Nandini Duggal takes charge of RML Hospital

New Delhi: In a shuffle at the top management of two major Central government hospitals in Delhi, The Government has appointed Dr B.L Sherwal as the new Medical Superintendent (MS) of Safdarjung hospital, New Delhi while also handing over the charge of RML hospital to Dr Nandini Duggal who will now function as the MS of RML Hosptial.

Dr B L Sherwal has been transferred and posted as Medical Superintendent, Safdarjung hospital w.e.f 02.08.2022 and until further orders.

"The CHS division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the approval of the competent authority, Dr B.L Sherwal, Director-Professor(Microbiology) & Medical Superintendent, Dr RML Hospital is hereby transferred and posted as Medical Superintendent, Safdarjung hospital w.e.f 02.08.2022 and until further orders", the order reads.

The order issued by Mr Vivek Naryan, Under Secretary to the Government of India, also clarifies Dr Nandini Duggal Consultant (Microbiology) & Additional Medical Superintendent, Dr RML Hospital will function as Medical Superintendent, Dr RML Hospital on officiating basis till further orders.

Earlier, Dr Sherwal, a native of Haryana served as the Teaching Specialist Sub-Cadre of CHS, posted in Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi and was appointed as the Medical Superintendent of Dr RML hospital in January 2022. He has replaced Dr Rana AK Singh, then Medical Superintendent of Dr RML hospital. He has also served as director of Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital in Tahirpur for four years.

Dr Nandini Duggal is working in Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. She published articles in many journals and her research interest was in Tuberculosis, Bacterial Infections.

Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, formerly known as Willingdon Hospital, was established by the British for their staff and had only 54 beds. After independence, its control was shifted to New Delhi Municipal Committee. It is fully funded by the Government of India (Ministry of Health Family Welfare).
