Duty Doctor at Jaipur Hospital attacked by patient's attendant, sparks outrage
Jaipur: In a case of alleged violence against a medical professional, an on-duty resident doctor at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur was allegedly assaulted by family members who were unhappy with the treatment given to their patient admitted to the trauma centre.
The chaos erupted on Wednesday morning when the family members of a patient at the trauma centre confronted the doctor stating that they were dissatisfied with how the resident doctor had treated their patient. During this violent altercation, the doctor was injured.

Condemning the incident, the Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors submitted a letter to the principal of SMS Hospital Dr Deepak Maheshwar demanding the deployment of police personnel in the emergency department and trauma centres. They also requested the hospital authorities to take immediate safety and security measures for all medical professionals on campus.
The association has called for the ongoing presence of police constables in the emergency departments and trauma centres of all government hospitals in Jaipur. This initiative aims to allow medical staff to carry out their duties with greater confidence and an increased sense of security.
JARD in their letter stated, "As a collective decision of all resident doctors working at government-run hospitals in the state capital, we have resolved that we will only be able to continue working in emergency services if police constables are present to ensure a safe working environment."
Dr Manohar Siyol, president of the Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors (JARD) told TOI, “The doctor has suffered injuries. We have informed the principal of the medical college about the incident and the lapses in security, because of which the doctor faced the attack. Deployment of police personnel in the emergency department and trauma centre would have prevented such an incident from happening."
