Exam Pressure? Two days before NEET PG exam, Doctor hangs self in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Just two days before the upcoming NEET PG examination, a 27 year old MBBS doctor who was preparing for the exam has taken an extreme step of taking her own life.
As per the police officials, she was suffering from depression and was unable to focus on her studies for the last few days
The death of a female doctor who allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling at her residence in Mettupalayam has drawn a sharp response on Twitter, with doctors demanding action from the government on the matter. The incident took place on Thursday evening.
The deceased has been identified as 27-year old one Dr Rasi, a resident of Kattoor Road in Mettupalayam.
According to the Mettupalayam police, She was unable to focus on her studies and hanged herself at 3 pm yesterday. When a family member came to her room, the doors were locked from the inside. The family member then knocked on her door but received no response from her. The family member then went to the window of the room to see her and witnessed the scene of her hanging from the ceiling.

As per latest media report in TOI, the Mettupalayam police received a call about the incident and rushed to the spot immediately. The body has been sent for post mortem at the Mettupalayam government hospital said a police officer.
A case has been registered by the police under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Investigation for the incident is underway.
Doctors across the country took to social media expression regrets on her death.
Dr Dutta, General Secretary FAIMA wrote " Just received the heartbreaking news that a young NEET PG 2022 aspirant has died by suicide in Coimbatore! The stress and anxiety caused by the overlap of exams and counselling have destroyed the mental health of doctors! The arrogance of the Health Ministry is responsible for this!"

Several Twitter users are now blaming the government and NMC for the incident. Retweeting the post a, Twitter user said "Deeply pained by the untimely demise of one our colleague by suicide due to pressure of exam and a long wait in the hope of postponement but still no decision from health minister regarding NEETPG2022."
