Fake Medical Practice Exposed in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A man who allegedly posed as a family physician and ran a clinic in Doddakannahalli for nearly a decade is now on the run, after health officials and police uncovered his fraudulent medical practice.
According to the news reports, the fraud came to light in March 2025 after the Karnataka Health Department received an anonymous complaint, alleging that the accused claimed to be an Ayurvedic doctor but was illegally prescribing allopathic medicines and administering steroid injections, which reportedly caused adverse health effects for patients. He was found to be operating a clinic under the name "Health Line Poly Clinic" under these false pretences.

Following the complaint, the Bengaluru Urban District Health Officer (DHO) promptly assigned KR Pura Taluk Health Officer, Dr B.B. Raghunath, to investigate the allegations.
Upon inspection, officials found the clinic displayed two names on its signboard — one with MBBS and MD credentials, and the other identifying the operator simply as a "family physician." The same names appeared on the clinic’s prescription pads. Notices were issued on April 3, requesting both individuals to submit their medical qualifications.
While the doctor acknowledged the notice, he failed to submit any legitimate credentials. Upon further scrutiny of the clinic's registration documents from an April 15 inspection, officials discovered the facility was registered as an Ayurveda clinic — valid from August 18, 2023, to August 17, 2028 — but the certificate submitted by the doctor was also forged.
By May 5, the clinic was found shut and its signboard removed. Locals informed health officials that the operator had closed the facility and disappeared days earlier.

Dr Raghunath subsequently filed a police complaint, and a case was registered under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 318 (cheating), 319 (cheating by personation), 336 (forgery), and 340 (forged document or electronic record and using it as genuine), reports TOI.
