Fake doctor on the run after 25 years of illegal practice

Fake Doctor
Bongaigaon: In a shocking case of quackery, a fake doctor who allegedly cheated patients and put their lives at risk for 25 years is now on the run after his illegal medical practice was exposed.
Without any medical degree or qualification, the quack has allegedly treated thousands of patients from 2001 to 2025. With the money he earned, he reportedly built a multi-storey building and operated his own clinic in Bongaigaon, attracting patients who believed he was a genuine doctor.

After receiving a tip-off, police attempted to arrest him, but he managed to escape and is currently absconding. An investigation has been launched to trace and arrest him.
Meanwhile, the Assam Council of Medical Registration has received a formal complaint against him, and authorities have begun looking into the case, as reported by Times Now.
Medical Dialogues had reported several such instances where fake doctors for several years duped patients and filled their pockets by putting their lives at risk. In one such incident, a man was booked for allegedly posing as a doctor and practising medicine with a fake MBBS degree at a private hospital in Bilsanda town of Pilibhit district.
The accused came under the police scanner after a botched cataract surgery on a 61-year-old farmer named Krishna reportedly resulted in damage to his eye.
In another incident, Cachar Police in Silchar arrested a fake doctor, the alleged leader and the prime accused, for allegedly running one of the biggest fake medical degree racket in Barak Valley. The accused, Jayanta Prashad Das, is known to many as “Dr JP Das." He cheated people for years by pretending to be a doctor and issuing fake medical certificates to others. Das was nabbed and taken into custody by a team led by Cachar SP Numal Mahatta.
