Fake Investment Scheme: Doctor booked for defrauding 68-year-old patient of Rs 1.37 crore
Wakad: In a shocking case of financial fraud, a doctor has been booked for allegedly defrauding Rs. 1.37 crore from a 68-year-old man. The case involves the owner of Spandan Multispecialty Hospital in Thergaon, who is accused of promising the victim a 50% partnership in the hospital and high returns on his investment.
The victim, who had been receiving treatment for asthma at the hospital, claims that the doctor persuaded him to invest his retirement savings after learning about his financial situation.

As per the recent media report by Punekar News, the police reports revealed, that Dr Khare Collected a total of Rs. 1.37 Crore from the patient and his wife. After receiving the money, the doctor allegedly shut down the hospital and disposed of the medical equipment without the investor’s knowledge.
The incident occurred between June 18, 2021, and December 18, 2025, at Spandan Multispecialty Hospital in Thergaon. With no communication from the doctor and no returns on his investment, the victim was left with no option but to approach the police.
According to News Minimalist, the police have filed a complaint against Dr. Khare, citing sections 316 and 318 of the BNS.
Authorities are currently investigating the case and have launched a search for the doctor, who has reportedly been unreachable since the closure of the hospital.

Medical dialogues had earlier reported that a Shimla-based doctor was swindled out of Rs 2.7 crore in an investment scam that promised high returns from trading. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the fraud. The incident, which occurred in November 2024, involved a scam that lured the victim with promises of substantial returns on trading, but the money was instead transferred into anonymous accounts.
