Fire engulfs Doctor's house, 9 people trapped for 45 minutes
Indore Doctor's Family Trapped in Blaze
Indore: A devastating fire broke out at a doctor's residence late at night in Sai Nath Colony, Tilak Nagar area, leaving a family of nine trapped inside the house for around 45 minutes. The blaze, which was reportedly caused by a short circuit in the doctor’s clinic located on the ground floor, rapidly spread throughout the house, engulfing half of the property.
The blaze erupted around 2:15 am while the family was asleep. It began with a short circuit that ignited the curtains and sofas, then rapidly spread to the false ceiling (POP) before engulfing the entire ground floor and starting to reach the upper floor. Seven family members were trapped on the upper floor, while the elderly couple was confined to the ground floor.

The fire, which destroyed household items worth lakhs of rupees, took about one-and-a-half hours to control, with approximately 6,000 litres of water used to douse the flames. Firefighters and police personnel worked tirelessly to ensure that the family was rescued and the fire was contained before it could spread further.
The house was occupied by nine family members, including the doctor and his wife, his father, mother, daughter, son, brother, his wife, and their daughter. Two family members sustained burn injuries, while the doctor's wife fainted due to smoke inhalation. Fortunately, all family members were rescued safely, but the household belongings were destroyed.

According to Free Press Journal, the flames spread to the curtains and false ceiling, thick smoke filled the entire house. Due to the suffocating smoke, Dr Gaurav's wife Dr. Pooja Tiwari, father Nemichand Jain and daughter Dhristi lost consciousness. When the police and firefighters arrived, they broke windows and doors to let the smoke escape and create an entry point. By the time they entered, most of the belongings had been reduced to ashes. A gas cylinder was also found inside, but since it was empty, an explosion was avoided.
Speaking to Free Press Journal, the doctor’s daughter who suffered burn injuries, recounted the incident, "We were all sleeping when the fire started. The sound of glass shattering woke up my father and he woke everyone up. By then, the entire house was filled with smoke. We were rescued using a ladder placed against the balcony. I closed my eyes because I couldn’t see anything. The TV, sofas, everything in the house burned. There were flames everywhere."
