First-year DNB radiology student of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital hangs self

Kathua: In an unfortunate incident, a first-year DNB Radiology student of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH), New Delhi has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with an electrical wire at his home in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when his parents were shocked to discover the medico hanging from the ceiling and was immediately taken to the Government Medical College, Kathua, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

It was reported that a few days ago, the medico came back to his home from Delhi and was not willing to go back to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital citing extreme stress back there. Therefore, he insisted on staying at home for a few days before the shocking incident happened.

However, the cause behind his death is yet unknown as official reports are awaited. The family members of the medico have fallen apart due to his sudden demise at such a young age.

The medico was a bright and brilliant student who secured the third rank in the state-level NEET-PG examination 2022 and secured 328 rank in the All India Rank in NEET-PG 2022 exam. After completing his MBBS from Government Medical College, Jammu, he got admission to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to pursue DNB Radiology.

Meanwhile, his death shocked many as he was a kind soul and a budding radiologist with vision to reach high in life.

Urging to pay attention to the incident, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of GMC Jammu has asked the RDA of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi to throw light on the matter so that the deceased's soul might rest in peace.

"If a doctor has lost his life because of professional stress, it's our duty that the exact trigger/factor should be brought out so as to give justice to the departed soul," said RDA Jammu.

Expressing its condolences, the management of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said "We are shocked to know about the sad demise of a First-year resident in the Department of Radiology. We all pray that his soul may rest in peace."
