GGH Siddipet house surgeon allegedly commits suicide

Siddipet: In a shocking incident, a female house surgeon from the 2020 batch at Government General Hospital (GGH), Siddipet, allegedly died by suicide after injecting herself with around 10–15 ml of paraquat.
As per information shared on social media, the doctor was reportedly under stress due to NEET-PG preparation along with her internship duties at the hospital. However, the exact reason behind her death is not yet known and is subject to investigation.
The doctor passed away on Sunday after doctors could not revive her despite intensive medical efforts, including intubation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday while the doctor was posted on Labour Room (LR) duty. She felt unwell and received treatment at the hospital’s casualty department. On Saturday morning, it was reported that she had allegedly administered the injection herself.
She was immediately rushed to the casualty at GGH Siddipet and later shifted to a private hospital for advanced treatment. She was subsequently referred to NIMS, Hyderabad. Despite doctors efforts, she was declared dead at around 1:30 am on January 4, 2025.
Her body has been shifted to Gandhi General Hospital for the postmortem examination. Police have registered a case, and further details will be known after a thorough investigation.
Expressing grief over the incident, Telangana Med Wing posted on social media platform X, "Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a young House Surgeon at GMC Siddipet.
