GMCH Chandigarh gets 58 sanctioned posts of Senior Residents, Junior Residents
Chandigarh: The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32 have been sanctioned with 58 posts of senior residents and junior residents for which the interviews are being held.
There was a walk-in interview for 19 posts, including that of senior residents on Friday. The senior resident position is a three-year tenure for which a written test is conducted usually held between October and December. However, a walk-in-interview is held in its place for recruiting the doctors when there is a seat vacant in between the term.

Anil Moudgil, official spokesperson, GMCH told Times of India, "Last time a panel was formed due to the absence of selected residents. However, we cannot take from the same panel for any fresh recruitment as per the orders of the Centre," adding, "That is why we had a walk-in interview for those new posts on Friday instead of a written test as the seats had fallen vacant in between the three-year term."
As per sources, three of the walk-in-interviewees who were recruited on Friday were children of the faculty who appeared for the same. Moudgil said, "The walk-in interview is based on counselling which is purely on the basis of previous marks. So, this is merit-based. Anyone eligible can appear."
The interviews for 38 posts for the residents and faculty are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday on GMCH. A senior faculty said, "These posts when filled will ease off the workload in the hospital. The medical college has started the intake of the resident doctors."
Medical Dialogues had last reported about the online applications invited by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the Posts of Senior Lecturer in Government Medical College and Hospital, Department of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh.
