As per a Pratidin time news report, the banana seller deliberately targeted the doctor over pricing issues. However, it remains unclear whether the attack was accidental or premeditated.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, Bhangagarh police arrested the accused following the incident. They are investigating the motive behind the attack, with more details yet to be disclosed.
Eyewitnesses reported that an argument between the doctor and the vendor escalated, leading to the violent assault. The scissors, typically used to cut banana stems, became a weapon in the altercation, reports India Today NE.
Medical Dialogues had reported several incidents of violent attacks on doctors and medical staff. In another such incident, a female doctor and several nurses of V N Desai Hospital in Santacruz East were brutally assaulted by 27 assailants following the death of a mother and a newborn at the facility.
Both the mother and her newborn died shortly after childbirth on Monday due to insufficient nutritional care during pregnancy. In response, the grieving family members and relatives, overwhelmed with anger, gathered at the hospital and assaulted the doctor and nursing staff, holding them responsible for the deaths of the mother and child.
