As per a HT news report, the incident occurred around 7:50 pm outside Dr Amit Kumar's residence sending shockwaves through the area. This caused panic in the neighbourhood. Due to the blast, a four-wheeler owned by Amitkumar caught fire causing injuries to a 7-year-old child at the residence.
Following the blast, the Manipur Police were informed immediately who rushed to the spot with the Bomb Disposal Squad at around 9.30 pm and safely defused the unexploded grenade. Further, the team seized the bomb for further investigation.
During the investigation, Dr Amit said the miscreants suspected of throwing the bomb asked about his house location from locals in the area. He said "Two unknown persons arrived on a two-wheeler and enquired with locals about a person called Gunamani. After the locals said they knew nobody by that name, the bike-borne people then asked about me after which the locals guided them to my house."
The police have registered a case in this regard and an investigation is underway to determine why the doctor's house was a target of the bomb blast and catch the perpetrators behind the attack.
