Gujarat: Class 12 pass man caught allegedly practising medicine without degree

Patan: A 65-year-old man allegedly practising medicine without a valid medical degree or certificate was caught by the Patan Special Operations Group (SOG) in Mandvi village of Sami taluka, raising fresh concerns over the functioning of the health department and its efforts to curb illegal medical practice.
The accused, a resident of Patan, had reportedly studied up to Class 12 and was allegedly treating patients by prescribing allopathic medicines without the required medical qualifications. The police seized Rs 2,300 in cash from the premises and registered a case at Sami police station.

According to reports, the action was taken by the Patan SOG team led by Police Inspector Jaideepsinh Solanki. While patrolling the Sami region, the team reportedly received information that a person was operating a dispensary without possessing a medical degree or certificate.
Acting on the tip-off, the police informed the local health authorities and conducted a raid at the premises with the assistance of the medical officer, a pharmacist and panch witnesses.
During the operation, the team allegedly found the accused running the dispensary and providing medical treatment without the necessary qualifications. Cash amounting to Rs 2,300 was seized from the premises, and further legal action was initiated.
It is noteworthy that the SOG police repeatedly raid in Patan district and succeed in catching bogus doctors. Despite this, it is clear from the police action that the health system, which is responsible for taking action against bogus doctors, is enjoying the slumber of Kumbhakarna. Due to this, questions have also been raised about the performance of the District Health Officer, reports Sandesh.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a man has been arrested in Gujarat’s Valsad district for allegedly practising allopathic medicine without holding a recognised medical qualification, amid concerns over unqualified medical practitioners operating across the state. The accused, who was residing near Valveri Phatak in Kaprada taluka, originally belonged to Bhatpurva Samuhi in Ghatampur taluka of Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
