Gujarat doctor duped of Rs 78.72 lakh in property scam
Ahmedabad: A doctor has filed a complaint of criminal conspiracy and cheating against the promoters of GT Hotels and Resort Pvt Ltd after the doctor and other five people lost around Rs 2.62 crore in a property deal in Udaipur.
The complaint was filed by a 54-year-old doctor, a resident of Sola Road against Ghanshyamdas Agarwal and his son Rishab, the promoters of GT Hotels and Resort Pvt Ltd. The doctor was one of the investors in their project, and the accused had closed down their office without repaying the doctor's Rs 78.72 lakhs.
The project in question was based in Udaipur, called Meraki Hill and Resort, for which the promoters were seeking investors, and the doctor decided to invest.
The doctor was offered villas worth Rs 75 lakh and Rs 1.1 crore, a presidential suite worth Rs 2.5 crore, and a bungalow for Rs 6 crore, after which he opted to invest in the presidential suite. Ghanshyamdas said that they would rent out the suite after it is completed and would accordingly share the proceeds.
The doctor had made an investment worth Rs 87.50 lakh, reports the Times of India. The doctor said that his son Ishan was a friend of Rishab, and he had talked to another doctor friend who vouched for Ghanshyamdas as he was related to her family.
The doubts arose after the doctor visited the Udaipur site and found the project was incomplete. When he asked Ghanshyamdas to refund his money, the latter paid him Rs 8.77 lakhs. Later, they shut their office and house and went missing. The Aarwals had also cheated five other people of Rs 2.62 crore, including Amin's Rs 78.72 lakh in a similar way.
