Gynaecologist dismissed for diverting patients to private hospitals

Doctor dismissed
Hyderabad: Sangareddy District Collector Valluru Kranthi has ordered the dismissal of a gynaecologist at Zaheerabad Area Hospital for allegedly referring pregnant women to private hospitals.
The action comes after multiple complaints were lodged against the doctor, identified as Uzma Naaz, prompting the collector to order an inquiry. The investigation in this regard confirmed the allegations leading to her removal from service.
The District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), Dr. Gayathri Devi, issued a notice to Dr Naaz, after being instructed to terminate her from her position with immediate effect.

On the other hand, two other doctors from the Doulthabad and Malchelma Primary Health Centres (PHCs) have been served notices for negligence while discharging their duties. This was also ordered by Valluru Kranthi, according to the latest media report by Telangana Today.
In a meeting held on Wednesday with officials from the Health Department in Sangareddy, including Government General Hospital Superintendent Dr. Anil Kumar, the Collector announced that maternal and infant mortality rates in the district have decreased by 50 percent this year compared to last year.
She urged doctors at local hospitals to manage low-risk pregnancy cases at their facilities, while advising them to refer high-risk cases to district hospitals after consulting with district hospital doctors.
Kranthi also suggested that the ASHA workers and ANMs constantly monitor pregnant women in their respective purview by offering constant guidance.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a 30-year-old pregnant woman passed away during labor following a referral from Pudukkottai Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) to Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). This incident has sparked widespread protests and raised serious concerns over medical negligence.
