Gynaecologist, wife killed after car plunges into gorge after boulder strike in Kullu

Shimla: A gynaecologist and his wife were killed, while their daughter suffered serious injuries after a moving car was struck by a falling boulder and plunged into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district on Friday, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 10.30 a.m. on the Ranabagh–Deori road in Ani subdivision when heavy rocks suddenly rolled down from a hillside onto the road and hit the car.
According to a UNI report, the deceased were identified as a gynaecologist and his wife. Their daughter, who was travelling with them, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Ani, for treatment.

According to preliminary information, the family, residents of Ani, was travelling in a car bearing a Rampur registration number when the mishap occurred.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kullu, said rescue teams were rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident.
Two occupants died on the spot, while the injured were evacuated to the hospital.
Officials from the Police, revenue and health departments reached the accident site and carried out rescue and relief operations. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in an unfortunate incident, a 27-year-old postgraduate medical student died while undergoing treatment after sustaining severe injuries in a road accident on the Pune-Nashik Highway near Chakan. Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify the vehicle that allegedly hit the motorcycle carrying two doctors. According to police, the accident took place at around 10 pm on Wednesday when the two doctors were returning home after completing their duty. An unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into their motorcycle, causing it to skid and crash into the road divider.
