A four-member committee was constituted on August 30 to probe the matter. The panel includes Dr. Milap Sharma, Principal of Tanda Medical College; Dr. Parveen Kumar Sharma, Controller of Examinations at Atal Medical and Research University; and Dr. Ritu Shitak, Professor of Pharmacology at Hamirpur Medical College. The committee is headed by Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Director of Medical Education and Research.
Before preparing the final report, the committee visited the medical college last week, recorded statements, and interrogated 35 individuals, including the complainants.
Despite having a clear outcome on the allegations against the doctor, committee head Dr. Rakesh Sharma declined to disclose the findings of the inquiry, stating that he was not authorised to comment.
As per The Tribune media report, Special Secretary (Health) Ashwani Kumar Sharma ordered the enquiry and asked the committee to submit its report within seven days.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that very soon, Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College (RKGMC) at Hamirpur will commence admissions in postgraduate medical courses, as announced by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Already, the State has given its approval for creating and filling the posts of six associate professors and 10 assistant professors in key departments, including general medicine, paediatrics, general surgery, orthopaedics, anaesthesia, and radiology.
Pointing out that specialists form the backbone of the healthcare services in the medical colleges and hospitals, the CM added that it was essential to introduce post-graduate courses.
