According to the police complaint, the burglary took place while Dr Rao was away from the city. He had left for Rishikesh by train on December 27. When he reached home around 4.30 am on Monday, he immediately informed the police.
TOI reported that the stolen items listed in the police report include diamond-studded gold earrings, a platinum ring, a solitaire ring, three gold bracelets, and a diamond bracelet among jewellery; an expensive watch, a laptop computer, and an iPad among the valuables; 70,000 and $500 among the currency; besides a passport, credit cards, and forex cards among the documents.
A case has been registered at the Sector 3 police station against unknown persons. Forensic experts visited the spot to collect evidence, and police are checking CCTV footage from nearby residential areas to trace the accused.
