Hyderabad Dentist in coma after alleged wrong injections; doctor booked

Medical Negligence
Hyderabad: In an alleged case of medical negligence, a doctor in Shaikpet is under investigation after a 31-year-old dentist slipped into a coma following the administration of wrong injections at his clinic.
According to her family, the dentist had visited the clinic on November 22 with complaints of abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and a sore throat. Her brother told police that he had explicitly informed the attending doctor about her documented allergy to penicillin-group antibiotics.

He further stated that instead of calling an ambulance immediately, the clinic staff placed the dentist in an autorickshaw and sent her to a hospital in Gachibowli. Upon arrival, she was unresponsive, with no pulse, and was diagnosed with hypoxic brain injury due to prolonged oxygen deprivation. She remains on a ventilator in the intensive care unit.
Film Nagar police have registered a case under Section 125 of the BNS (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) against the attending doctor on November 29. Authorities are investigating the sequence of events that led to the dentist’s collapse.

Speaking to TOI, M Prem Raj, sub-inspector at Film Nagar PS, said, "We have recorded the statement of the complainant and his mother. We asked the hospital to provide all records related to the patient, including the case sheet. The patient is still on a ventilator and unconscious. We will also record the statement of the accused doctor soon."
