IMA Haryana demands ban on Sunny Deol starrer movie 'Suryaa Aarambh se Ant Tak'
DoctorNew Delhi: A doctors' body has demanded a ban on the Sunny Deol-starrer movie "Suryaa-Aarambh Se Ant Tak", alleging that the movie maligns the entire medical profession for its wrongful portrayal.
Writing to the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Haryana chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), on behalf of 10,000 + doctors associated with it, has strongly protested against the concerned movie, alleging that the trailer of the movie "maligns the entire medical profession by portraying doctors as corrupt and accusing them of over-investigation and unnecessary tests."
IMA Haryana has submitted that 99% of doctors are ethical and serve with honesty. Further, the association has also pointed out how a doctor has to spend 10-12 years in rigorous training to serve society.
"Medicine is not Mathematics- disease course is unpredictable; investigations are essential for diagnosis, not for money," IMA said, further highlighting the huge workload that the doctors face. The association pointed out that doctors often have to work under limited resources and a constant threat of violence and litigation and argued that "fear of negligence causes defensive practice."
"Such one-sided portrayal destroys the doctor-patient relationship and also promotes violence against doctors for which the Censor board is directly responsible," the association further mentioned in the letter.
IMA has demanded an immediate stay on the release of the movie till objectionable scenes are deleted and the film is previewed by IMA representatives.
"Please treat as urgent, failing which IMA Haryana will be forced to agitate and take legal recourse," the letter added.
"Suryaa-Aarambh Se Ant Tak" is an upcoming crime thriller that stars Sunny Deol in the role of a retired police officer. The movie is set to release on November 20, 2026 and is directed by M. Padmakumar.
