India reels from shortage of over 4 lakh doctors, says Nitin Gadkari

Nagpur: The country lacks at least 4 lakh and 24000 doctors and the college started by Meghe Group in Nagpur will pave way for playing a leading role in compensating the shortfalls, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Sunday.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of new academic block of Datta Meghe Medical College, Wanadongri, in Maharashtra's Nagpur city.

The Datta Meghe Medical College, is the first medical college in the country to be established under the Consortium Scheme of the government of India and was established under the Meghe SMS Health Consortium and its partners.
The college established last year with capacity of 150 students at Wanadongri, Hingna here with "state of the art " infrastructure, world class academic ambiance, a press release said.
The ultra modern library, high tech class rooms and skill labs of international standards are the main highlights of this new Medical College under the DMIMS (DU), the release said.
The Union minister called for the need for more doctors in the health care and education sectors ,in particular at such scenario where there is global pandemic.
He said the country lacks 4 lakh 24000 doctors and the medical facility made available by Meghe Group in Nagpur, was commendable.
"Knowledge is power and on the basis of research and innovation, life can be made easy, smooth and beautiful ," Gadkari added.
By starting this medical college in Nagpur by Dutta Meghe Group, the family would render yeoman service to the mankind , Gadkari said.
Doctors, paramedical, nurses of this Meghe Medical College group helped a lot in those times when there was a lack of oxygen, beds, and other medical facilities, the minister said.
Apart from the government-run hospitals, the contribution of medical facilities set up by Meghe Group was commendable, the road transport minister reiterated.
Gadkari also stressed the need to have organ transplantation hospital in the region.
Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadanvis and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.
