Jharkhand Health Department sees major reshuffle, 58 Medical Officers Transferred

Doctors
Dhanbad: The Jharkhand Health Department has transferred 58 senior medical officers, including the demotion of five Civil surgeons. The decision was announced through a notification issued by Under Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in a significant administrative reshuffle, the Jharkhand Health Department has transferred and appointed five senior doctors across three medical colleges as principals and superintendents.

According to the news reports, one of the most notable changes in the reshuffle is the demotion of Dr. CK Shahi, the senior-most officer from the 1988 batch. Dr. Shahi, who was given additional charge as Director-in-Chief (DIC) in March 2024, has now been reassigned as Regional Deputy Director, Santhal Pargana Division, Dumka.
He has now been replaced by Dr. Sidharth Sanyal, who was previously serving as the Regional Deputy Director, North Chhotanagpur Division, Hazaribagh.
The reshuffle also includes the demotion of five civil surgeons.
Along with Dr. Shahi, five other civil surgeons have also faced demotion. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Civil Surgeon of Seraikela, has been demoted to Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO), Jamshedpur. Dr. Bachha Singh, Civil Surgeon of Dumka, is now ACMO Deoghar. Dr. Praveen Kumar Santhalia, Civil Surgeon of Sahibganj, has been posted as District Vector-Borne Disease Officer in Palamu. Dr. Naval Singh, Civil Surgeon of Gumla, has been demoted to ACMO Ramgarh, reports the Jharkhand Story.
Nine Senior Officers Promoted
Nine senior medical officers have been promoted, with several being assigned the role of Civil Surgeon across various districts. Among them, Dr. Kamlesh Prasad, formerly the Medical Officer of Giridih, has been appointed as the Civil Surgeon of Dumka. Meanwhile, Dr. Alok Vishwakarma, a 1990 batch officer who previously served as Deputy Superintendent at Jamtara Sadar Hospital, has returned as the Civil Surgeon of Dhanbad — a position he also held in 2023.
Fresh Appointments
Several new appointments have been made as part of a broader restructuring of district health leadership. Dr. Shambhu Choudhary, formerly the Medical Officer of Lohardagga, has been promoted to Civil Surgeon of Gumla. In Deoghar, RCH Officer Dr. Yugal Kishore Choudhary (1988 batch) has taken charge as the new Civil Surgeon. Dr. Sheikh Zafarullah, previously the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) of Bokaro, has been appointed Civil Surgeon of Giridih. Meanwhile, Dr. Anil Kumar Srivastava, Medical Officer at Palamu Sadar Hospital, will now serve as the Civil Surgeon in the same district.
Further, Dr. SK Mishra, RCH Officer in Sahibganj, has been made Civil Surgeon of Pakur, while Dr. Subhash Chandra Sharma, CHC in-charge at Godda, has been elevated as Civil Surgeon of Godda, reports the Jharkhand story.
