J&K: 13 doctors appointed at GMC Handwara
Srinagar: The Health and Medical Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has sanctioned 13 doctors for faculty engagement in various departments in Government Medical College, Handwara on an academic arrangement basis.
In a Government Order (GO) issued by IAS Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department on May 6, mentioned that the doctors have been selected in various medical college departments temporarily for this academic year.
"As approved by the chairman Selection Committee, the sanction is hereby accorded to the engagement of the following candidates on the post(s) and in the discipline(s), as indicated against each, in Government Medical College, Handwara, on academic arrangement basis, in terms of Jammu and Kashmir Medical and Dental Education," reads the order.

Dr Abdul Quyoom Lone has been selected as the professor, Dr Fayaz Ahmad Munshi as Associate Professor, Dr Mubashir ul Islam and Dr Akif Mutahar Shah have been selected as the Assistant Professors for Anaesthesiology Department.
Dr Showkat Ahmad Bhat has been selected as the Assistant Professor for Biochemistry. Dr Safoora Bilques and Dr Umer Faroog have been selected as the Professor and Assistant Professors respectively for Community Medicine Department.
Dr Showkat Ahmad Jeelani has been selected as the Professor for General Surgery. Dr UIfat Shah an Assistant Professor for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr Jawed Ahmad Bhat and Dr Zubair Ahmad Lone as Professor and Assistant Professor respectively for Orthopaedics.
Dr Gazala Gul and Dr Safura Dewani have been selected as Assistant Professors for Pathology and Physiology respectively.
The candidates have been asked to report to the Principal of Government Medical College, Handwara for joining within a period of twenty-one (21) days, from the date of issuance of this order, If failed, their engagement will be cancelled without any further notice.
"The arrangements shall be purely on a temporary basis and shall not confer upon the engagees any special claim/right for their appointment against the said posts on a regular basis as and when the same are filled under rules. The candidates shal| have to execute an agreement with the Government on the prescribed Form in terms of S.O 364 of 2020 dated 27.11.2020. The engagement shall be for a period of one year or till the posts are filled-up on a regular basis on the recommendations of Jammu and Kashmir, Public Service Commission, whichever is earlier," reads the order.
"The above engagements shall be regulated under other terms and conditions as specified in S.O 364 dated 27.11.2020. The engagements so made on an academic arrangement basis shall be extendable upto a maximum of six years (one year at a time and subject to good performance and conduct) or till selections are made in accordance with the rules of recruitment governing the posts, whichever is earlier, and the extension so granted under these rules shall not be beyond a period of six years under any circumstances," the order stated.
