J&K Govt appoints inquiry officer to probe bribery charge against doctors at District Hospital Ganderbal
Ganderbal: In response to allegations regarding illegal activities against certain medical professionals at District Hospital Ganderbal, the Health and Medical Education Department (H&ME), J&K has issued a notice informing that an inquiry officer has been appointed to probe the case.
The order came into action after a complaint was filed by Dr Ab. Majid Bhatt who claimed that some doctors and officials of District Hospital Ganderbal are involved in illegal activities including accepting bribes and delivering subpar medical care to patients.
An official order issued by Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar on September 12, stated, "Sanction is, hereby, accorded to the appointment of Dr. Shafqat Khan, Additional Mission Director, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, J&K as Inquiry Officer to enquire into the complaint filed by Dr. Ab. Majid Bhatt, against few doctors/other officials of District Hospital, Ganderbal for their involvement in illegal activities."

Along with this, The Department also added, "The Inquiry Officer shall submit enquiry report along with recommendations within ten 10 days positively from the date of issuance of this order."
Following complaints of harassment from medical and paramedical employees, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir initiated action against the hospital’s medical superintendent, earlier on July 11.
As per a media report in GK, the decision to attach Dr. Bhat came after a protest organized by doctors and paramedical staff at District Hospital Ganderbal. The medical professionals gathered within the hospital premises, expressing their discontent and demanding the removal of the Medical Superintendent due to alleged deplorable behavior.
Dr. Bhat was temporarily given the additional responsibility of being the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Ganderbal while Dr. Nighat Yasmeen Sheikh, the current Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Ganderbal, temporarily assumed it in response to increasing pressure.
