Hyderabad: Fulfilling the demands of the junior doctors in Telangana, the Director of Medical Education in the state have begun the process of raising the stipend amounts given to the junior doctors.

Further, they demanded the regularization of their duty hours. They stated that the long duty hours where the junior doctors have to keep working between 36 to 48 hours, and sometimes for 72 hours, is affecting the mental and physical health of postgraduate medical students.
The doctors also raised the issue of continuous doctors assault and demanded the creation of a special force as per GO 103 issued on December 30, 2019, to protect them.
As per a media report in TNIE, Syed Ali Rizvi said that the government is currently appointing assistant professors and the burden of junior doctors would lessen once the recruitment processes are completed.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the massive strike undertaken by 3,000 Junior resident doctors and many more senior doctors of government medical colleges and hospitals in Chhattisgarh, demanding appropriate stipends for medical interns, bonded doctors and PG resident doctors. The resident doctors had suspended OPD services and threatened a complete suspension of healthcare services if internship and PG stipends, post MBBS and post PG bond salaries were not increased. Around 650 junior doctors went on strike in Raipur’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical campus under the banner of the Junior Doctors' Association (JUDA). On the other hand, resident doctors, coming under the banner of United Doctors' Front Association C.G (UDFA) also agitated all over the state standing in solidarity with JUDA.
