Kannur Medical College Hospital Doctors stage protest seeking regularisation of services
The protesters alleged that nearly 240 doctors at the medical college are receiving their salaries as per the norms decided by the Medical College Society in 2016.
Kannur: The doctors associated with Kannur Government Medical College Hospital have staged a protest wearing black badges demanding regularisation of their services.
The protesters stated that the doctors and staff working there have not been recognized as government employees ever since the government took over the control of the medical college.

The Kerala government regularized the services of 772 employees including the doctors of the medical college in March 2022. But the order was stayed by the Kerala Administrative Tribunal after which no permanent appointment took place at the institute, reports the Hindu.
The protesters alleged that there are nearly 240 doctors at the medical college and they receive their salaries as per the norms decided by the Medical College Society in 2016.
The general body meeting of the Academy of Medical Science Teachers Association (AMSTA) has decided to intensify their protest.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar incident where the junior doctors associated with the People's College of Medical Sciences & Research Centre went on a strike demanding a revision in their stipend amount. They also wrote a letter to the dean of the college demanding a reasonable stipend.
The Indian Medical Association had extended its support to the junior doctors' protest, with nearly 31 doctors have signed to show their support for the protest and the letter which was sent to the dean. The doctors who are currently in their final year now, whose second year was in 2020-2021 are demanding the remaining increment amount of second-year residency which would amount to nearly Rs 1.20 Lakh per resident to be either adjusted in the final year fees or to be paid to them now.
