Junior Doctors of People's College of Medical Sciences go on strike, seek hike in stipend
PG residents of Private Colleges should be paid a stipend at par with PG residents of the Govt Medical College of that state, as per the PG Medical Regulations.
Bhopal: The junior doctors associated with the People's College of Medical Sciences & Research Centre have gone on a strike demanding a revision in their stipend amount.
They also wrote a letter to the dean of the college demanding a reasonable stipend, reports the Free Press Journal.

The Indian Medical Association has extended their support to the junior doctors' protest, with nearly 31 doctors having signed to show their support for the protest and the letter which was sent to the dean.
IMA national joint-secretary (junior doctors' network), Dr Shankul Dwivedi told Free Press Journal, "IMA has supported the striking junior doctors as their demand is well justified. They are getting stipends of Rs 65,000, Rs 67,000 and Rs 69,000 for the first year, second year and third year respectively from April 2022. But they were demanding it from April 2021."
Dwivedi further added that the doctors who are currently in their final year now, whose second year was in 2020-2021 are demanding the remaining increment amount of second-year residency which would amount to nearly Rs 1.20 Lakh per resident to be either adjusted in the final year fees or to be paid to them now.
Dwivedi mentioned that the PG residents of Private Colleges should be paid a stipend at par with PG residents of the Govt Medical College of that state, as per the PG Medical Regulations.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar protest undertaken by the trainee doctors of Tripura Medical College where the doctors were reported to be on an indefinite strike since June 13 demanding a hike in their stipend amount, following which the medical services at the Tripura Medical College and Hospital were affected. They also raised other issues like water problems in their hostel in addition to the stipend issue.
